Exhibition of Italian Design

Triennale in Milan

From 15 April to 17 September 2023

From Tuesday to Sunday

From 11 am – 8 pm (the last entry at 7.00 pm)

On the occasion of the centenary of Triennale Milano, the Museo del Design Italiano, directed by Marco Sammicheli, is presented in a new look with a new selection of objects and a new layout, designed by Paolo Giacomazzi Design Studio.

Stefano Boeri, President of Triennale Milano, said: “The link between the history of Italian design and that of Triennale is indissoluble: since its establishment, a century ago, Triennale has always been a focal point for the debate and definition of the concept of design itself, in all its forms. For this reason, after giving a permanent structure to the exhibition structure of the Italian Design Museum, we decided to renew it further, drawing, on the one hand, the extraordinary heritage of our collection and consolidating, on the other hand, the network of donations and loans, keeping in mind the value of a public collection that allows to convey the importance of Italian design to a wide and heterogeneous audience.”

The exhibition will follow a chronological progression in which the objects that have made the history of Italian design will be accompanied by archival documents, historical photos, works of art and graphic designs by prominent authors. There will also be thematic installations that will host important projects and reproductions of interiors, where the story of significant cultural changes involving Milan and Italy in the last century is developed.

At the end of the journey, in the space of the Design Platform, the exhibition Text will highlight, through the works of designers, designers and designers, how the culture of textiles and the relationship between text, image and product have generated strands of research, innovative projects, commercial insights and reflections between art, crafts and fashion.
