Pirelli HangarBicocca, Milan
March 27 – July 27, 2025
The “ICARUS” exhibition features works by Yukinori Yanagi, exploring themes like nationalism, globalization, and technology. Using the Greek myth of Icarus as a metaphor, Yanagi reflects on the risks of overconfidence in technology, just as Icarus fell for flying too close to the sun.
The exhibition includes key works from the 1990s, 2000s, and recent pieces, displayed in the Navate and Cubo spaces at Pirelli HangarBicocca. The artist adapts some of his large-scale installations to create a dialogue between past and present, challenging physical and symbolic boundaries.
A monograph published by Marsilio Editori accompanies the exhibition, offering insights into Yanagi’s career and works.
