The exhibition is dedicated to Andrea Appiani (1754 – 1817), celebrated as the most important neoclassical Milanese painter of his time and recognized as the official artist in the service of Napoleon Bonaparte.

The exhibition aims to re-examine and attest to his prominent position not only in the local context but also in the European artistic landscape between the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.

Through the presentation of over 100 works, the setup offers a critical path that ranges from masterpieces coming from Italian museums to those from prestigious international institutions.
