Exhibition of Fabio Mauri: “De Oppressione”

imagine fabio mauri

Triennale Milano – Viale Emilio Alemagna, 6, Milan

From December 3rd 2025 to February 15th 2026

The exhibition, created in collaboration with the Studio Fabio Mauri, celebrates the centenary of the birth (1926–2009) of Fabio Mauri, philosopher, publisher, and central figure of the Italian avant-garde. The exhibition focuses on the works that the artist dedicated, starting from the late 1960s, to the themes of culture, identity, and ideology. Mauri anticipated various debates, exploring how these concepts have historically been the basis for the subjugation inflicted or suffered by peoples and individuals, focusing the exhibition path on his reflection on the theme of oppression in its different forms.

For this reason, the exhibition at Triennale Milano will focus attention on a targeted core of works created by the artist in a time span extending from the late 1960s to the 2000s. The review investigates, in particular, the different forms of this theme related to culture, identity, and ideology, examining how, over the course of history and in different geographical contexts, these three concepts could become reasons for subjugation. Mauri was an author capable of lucidly questioning the “short century” and its contradictions, placing the relationship between memory, ideology, and the power of images in contemporary society at the center of his research.
