Mudec – Museum of Cultures, Milan
From November 27, 2024, to September 21, 2025
This special installation by Adrian Paci turns the agora into a big blue-green mosaic that looks like the sea. Each piece of the mosaic is made from images of migrant shipwrecks in the Mediterranean.
The artist uses parts of these images to make people think about the situation of migrants and the tragedy of forced migration, without showing the disaster directly. The light coming through the windows, covered with transparent films, creates a visual effect that makes the space look like an artificial ocean, an aquarium that changes throughout the day.
This installation with 250 tiles represents not just the sea, but also a political and social story about the fight for freedom and the tragedies of migration today.
