curated by di Lélia Wanick Salgado
Milan, Fabbrica del Vapore (Via Procaccini,4)
From 12 May to 19 November will be held in Milan, at the Fabbrica del
Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado with over 200 photographs
that will make us make a complete immersion in the Amazon forest trying
to raise awareness to protect it as much as possible.
The exhibition revolves around two themes.
The first consists of landscape photographs, ranging from the Overview of the forest in which the visitor presents the Amazon view from above, to The flying rivers.
The second group of images is dedicated to the different indigenous peoples immortalized by Salgado with photographs gathered in spaces reminiscent of the “ocas”, typical indigenous homes, vividly evoking the small and isolated human settlements in the heart of the jungle.
Thanks to Salgado we can thus get to know the Awá-Guajá, which have only 450 members and are considered the most threatened tribe on the planet, or the Yawanawá, who, on the verge of disappearing, have regained control of their lands and the spread of their culture, flourishing, up to the Korubos, among the tribes with less external contacts.
